Strange knowledge

Recently I was reading a book by a female author named Linda Howard, the book being called Drop Dead Gorgeous. Since I am a fiction buff I have read both good and bad books but this book is beyond words. Having been written by a woman this book is seriously anti feministic in the way it treats the lead characters. The protagonist is a woman is who is independent and successful but is totally bossed around by her fianc`e who is a masochistic moron, sterotypically a policeman by profession and therefore her saviour. Its really very antagonising that people write and believe in things like a woman should drop her maiden name or she is a property of her husband. If mediums of general mass entertainment like fiction is such anti-feminist, we have a long way to go for gender equality.
